Welcome to the JDBC Explorer home page.
I am J.R. Onyschak, the author of JDBC Explorer. I have created this
page to assist people in the use of JDBC Explorer as well as gathering feedback
from users. This page will be filled out as time passes.
I am in the process of creating documentation and putting together
an easy to use release. Please bare with me as I get familiar with
SourceForge and get my act together.
About JDBC Explorer
JDBC Explorer is a Java application that allows users to query, insert,
delete, and update an RDBMS. It can connect to any RDBMS that has JDBC
2.0 compliant drivers.
Future Plans
JDBC Explorer will be under constant development for quite a while.
I currently am working on documentation, this web page, and putting together
an easy to use release.
- Syntax highlighting
- History of commands
- Connections via datasources
- Table structure viewer
- ResultSet updates via table edits
History
I created JDBC Explorer to assist in my day job. I wanted to be able
to quickly check values of the different database used in our system. I
was not satisfied with the user interface the databases supplied, so started
looking for alternatives. In searching, I found
SQL Explorer (or SQL Worker, I am not sure what the correct title is)
by Mario Muller. This worked fine for JDK 1.1 and Swing 1.0.3, but there
were a few bugs and I was moving to JDK 1.2, so I created JDBC Explorer as
a Java 2 clone. I have not been able to contact the original author, but
would like to thank him for the original tool.
